Mosman Athletics Seniors

Mosman Athletics for Seniors U16-U20, Opens & Community Members

 
From October 2024 we are introducing a senior athletics program on Monday evenings for athletes over 14 years including adults.
 
This program is event-based training for those who wish to learn or improve athletics skills and exercise in a relaxed group environment. Our professional coaches provide training suitable to all participants’ skill levels, from beginners to State and National level athletes.
 
Senior Session training information
Training events offered on Mondays include sprints, middle and long distance, long jump, high jump, discus and shot put. Other events such as hurdles, triple jump, and javelin may be offered based on interest.
 
Senior athletes use the Event Selection form provided with their registration confirmation email to select their preferred one or two events for training. Events must be selected before training commences.
 
Mosman Athletics’ senior session operates on Mondays 7.15pm-8.15pm at Balmoral Oval.
Dates – 14 October 2024 to 24 March 2025
 
 
How to get involved
All U16-U20 aged athletes must register online for Mosman Athletics membership via ANSW.
Athletes 20 years+ wishing to compete in ANSW events also need to register.
 
Community member athletes are welcome to join the Senior training sessions on Mondays.  Please register and pay the applicable casual training fee per session. Should you wish to have coverage for Personal Accident Insurance under the National Insurance Plan, please also select and pay the LANSW State fee of $15
 
Registration for the 2024/25 season opens on 1st August 2024. Registration information, along with details of all championships and competitions, can be found at https://www.nswathletics.org.au/get- involved/membership/
 
For athletes U16-U18, registration includes:
  • 15 weeks of training on Mondays at Balmoral Oval with our senior track and field coaches
  • Pre-selection of one or two training events for the season
  • 4 club competition nights in the earlier Junior Session 5.50pm to 7.15pm
  • Access to compete in LANSW Region & State championship events as well as all ANSW and AA Sanctioned Events (qualification pathways determined by age group)
  • Coverage for Personal Accident Insurance under the National Insurance Plan
  • Non-volunteer fee is not required
 
For U20 athletes, registration includes:
  • 19 weeks of training on Mondays at Balmoral Oval with our senior track and field coaches
  • Pre-selection of one or two training events for the season
  • Access to compete in LANSW Region & State championship events as well as all ANSW and AA Sanctioned Events (qualification pathways determined by age group)
  • Coverage for Personal Accident Insurance under the National Insurance Plan
  • Non-volunteer fee is not required
 
For Open athletes 20 years of age and over, the registration fee includes:
  • 19 weeks of training on Mondays at Balmoral Oval with our senior track and field coaches
  • Pre-selection of one or two training events for the season
  • Access to compete in all ANSW and AA Sanctioned Events
  • Coverage for Personal Accident Insurance under the National Insurance Plan
 
Mosman Competition Nights U16-U18
Mosman Athletics runs club competition nights four times each season. All U16-U18 athletes are expected to compete on comp nights as part of the U15+ age group. Comp night times are 5.50pm to 7.15pm. See our Calendar for comp night dates and programs.
 
There will be no training for U16-U18 athletes in the senior session on comp nights. Mosman may run additional comp events during the senior session and will advise athletes closer to the time.
 
Competing at Championships and ANSW events
From September 2024, a new partnership between Little Athletics NSW and Athletics NSW allows Mosman athletes access to a range of LANSW and ANSW competition and events (determined by age group). If you are a registered member of Mosman Athletics you may compete at these events, although there is absolutely no obligation at all to do so. There are many events held throughout the year.
 
Uniform – If you are interested in competing, please note that you will need to wear a Mosman Athletics singlet or crop top. These can be purchased online via the link here MOSMAN LAC – Uniforms (sportsmagic.com.au)

Other Training
Mosman Athletics supports additional, small group, training opportunities for older athletes run privately with some of our coaches throughout the year. All training is held at Balmoral Oval over the Summer, between October 2024 and April 2025.
 
Sprints with Rich Frost
Thursdays 6:30pm-7:30pm $25 per session
 
Middle distance with Tom Giles
Thursdays 6:30pm-7:30pm $25 per session
 
Long runs with Tom Giles
Sundays 9:00am (all ages welcome) $25 per session
 
Please pay directly to coach. Packages can be pre-paid and negotiated with individual coaches.
